Dr. James A. Dreiling

Assistant Professor of Music
At Berea College since 2016

Dr. James A. Dreiling has the pleasure of serving as Assistant Professor of Music Education and Director of Bands at Berea College in Berea, Kentucky. His responsibilities include directing the Berea Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band, teaching applied brass lessons, instrument music education courses, and supervise instrumental music student teachers. Prior to his arrival at Berea, Dr. Dreiling served as Interim Assistant Director of Bands at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Dr. Dreiling received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Kansas State University and a Master of Music Education degree with emphasis in conducting from Wichita State University. He is also a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he completed his Doctor of Music Arts degree in wind conducting and served as a graduate teaching assistant working in all aspects of the band program at UNL.

Student Spotlight

Skye O’Sullivan, Berea College junior music major was just selected, by nationwide and international audition process, to perform the role of Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro by W. A. Mozart in the summer of 2020 at the Estates Theatre in Prague, Czech Republic.  Skye has been chosen to participate in the Prague Summer Nights Young Artists Festival with performances of opera and concerts in Prague and Tábor, Czech Republic.  Prague Summer Nights participants will spend one month in the Czech Republic. The festival begins in the charming bohemian town of Tábor and ends in the majestic city of Prague.  Skye is a recipient of the Sloan Shelton Grant哪种配资可以买涨停板 in support of this month long project.
